But the party comes to an abrupt end when they find out they''ve been fleeced for their money and an eviction notice is taped to their door. They have seventy-two hours to come up with the money or be tossed into the streets by the city marshals. Armed with various schemes, they set out to try and stop the eviction and find themselves caught in the crossfire of a bloody war between the Notorious Clark family and a new player in the game.

Meanwhile the police are still searching for the killer known only as The Animal, while his former lover Gucci tries to put the pieces of her life back together. When all is said and done, all parties involved will discover something about Animal and his abduction that no one was prepared for.

Let me start this review by giving my favorite author K''wan some love,it''s been a minute since I''ve read one of his novels. After I
finished reading "Eviction Notice" I wasn''t completely satisfied but on the other hand I wasn''t dissatisfied with it but I was expecting
way more from K''wan. This is a well written book but it''s about 90% drama & 10% action.
There''s a large amount of characters in this book, new ones like Sahara,Franky & Porsha are doing what ever it takes to not get
evicted from there apt.in the PJ''s,from slinging crack to stripping,it''s all good to these three hood rats. You have some returning
favorites like Shai Clark,Swan,Ashanti,Boots,Tionna,Don B,Gucci & Animal who provide the majority of the action in this book.
One draw back of this book, with such a large amount of characters, when reading you have to concentrate & pay close attention to
what''s going on,if not you''ll be lost. This book got over 150 mixed reviews,1 star to 5 star & everything in between,as for me I gave
it 3.5 out of 5.This book wasn''t K''wans best piece of work & it wasn''t his worse but he can definitely do better & he has.
To sum up this book & bring this review to an end,Eviction Notice is nothing more then a set up book for Animal 1 & 2,it tells you
what happened to Animal after Welfare Wifey''s & what brings him out of hiding & back to the cold, mean streets of Harlem NY,it''s a
decent read in the Hood Rat series.

Book Review for Eviction Notice by K''wan

You know how it is when you watch a good movie and the actors played their parts so well that you actually saw them as that character and had an actual disdain for that them??? Well that''s what K''wan did with his characters in Eviction Notice! I was so mad with some of those characters until I just wanted to snatch them out the pages and smacked the hell out of them! How many times does someone actually have to tell you what it is before you listen, instead of you wanting to step out there and find out if the rumors are true for yourself! Are you prepared for the consequences when the truth comes a knocking at your door? How about when you make the moves for the come up, and you find there is always someone around waiting to take from you by any means necessary, and some of those doing the taking are those you considered family, friends or associates that you have known all your life! Will you be prepared to do what is necessary if the situation calls for it?? Travel with Three friends as they find themselves facing eviction after a so called friend plays them for their money! Each takes a different route to try and raise the money to prevent being put out on the street! Will they be successful in raising the money and at what costs?

These ladies needed to understand that you can''t out smart the streets if you are not of the streets and living in the hood does not automatically qualify you as being of the streets! You also cannot out smart the person who invented the game!! So know when you have been outmatched and outsmarted! I have not seen a chick yet in one if these novels that has been able to out smart Don B''s grimy azz! Well I have, but he''s not on their level because he would not make it through the night with them, but that''s another story!

The situations of the old heads may not be ideal to look at present day as they wear their battle scars and circumstances like a suit of armor, but they have that knowledge that could save many from going down a dead end! They were talking, but because of their current situations no one was listening! As long as folks continue to love the almighty dollar and are so blinded that they are willing to sacrifice themselves to get that fast money, the cycles will get repeated! Advice was given and not heeded!

This book had everything and all in it! I was actually holding my breath, because K''wan will kill off a favorite in a minute like the writers on "The Walking Dead" (my favorite TV show) Everything was so skillfully orchestrated and crafted to the point you were rooting for some while wanting to stab others with a rusty nail! There is a certain skill in the pen to be able to bring out emotions over fictional characters and he did just that! I haven''t even mentioned Animal, but I loved the surprise that was waiting for him after the escape! Seeing this character morph into a beast that he has become had me looking up Vlad the Impaler, Frankenstein and the werewolf as he is just on that level to me! They will be talking about the Animal for some time to come! Trust and believe! His love for the young and elderly show a side of him that you would think is nonexistent because he will literally take your head if that''s what the job called for with no conscious or remorse!

I''ve enjoyed this series so much so that I will be reading it again! The Hood Rat series is filled with so much truth until it was like seeing the stories of many from the old neighborhood being retold through a new set of eyes! After reading this series, I have an even greater appreciation for his new pieces of work! Masterpieces!!! K''wan your pen is platinum! "No Shade", cannot come out soon enough! Once again great job! Folks all titles are available on Amazon and highly recommend that you start one clicking now!

Life in the hood is a game of truth or dare...truth is there''s bu!!&hit every day...dare is can you escape its evil clutches? K''wan has continued this saga of the days in the life of hood rats that scurry around dreaming of a better and brighter day away from the melee. Secondary characters have stepped into the spotlight in this installation. Porsha, Frankie, and Sahara have hustled their way into their own spot by renting from `the renter'' until they find an eviction notice on their door with a 72 hour deadline. Animal''s destination is revealed as we find he and Gucci separated without closure as these two pine for that special love extraordinaire they shared. Too far apart to be together yet too close to move forward with their current life situations. Don B''s empire is still growing despite its reputation of death and dishonor. King James is back on the ground and moving viciously and with an arrogance that can either make or break his vision. His sights are focused on upstaging the untouchable and notorious Shai Clark. Alonzo `Zo Pound'' retired from the uncertainty of living life on the edge for a regular honest day''s work despite the jokes cast his way. Cutty''s back in the mix and payback is mos def a mutha.

There are so very many pieces to this puzzle that I found myself comparing Eviction Notice to a maze that continues to grow. With all of this testrone and estrogen mixing and bubbling over...emotions are bound to explode. When game recognizes game...when arrogance bucks against authority...when brothers bleed dry...and when you pick up snakes and put them in your pocket...treachery and chaos overthrow all semblances of order. Survival of the fittest, wisdom of the shrewdest, loyalty or hostage, love or lust, money or respect...these are the choices that await those who dare to delve. You''ll meet and greet all types of personalities, scandalous antics, and schemes and scams in the center of notorious hoods such as Douglas Projects. I went into this read with one key question but upon finishing I was left with far too many. Eviction Notice was indeed an enjoyable read although a bit confusing at times as it constantly jogged your memory bank to ascertain the connecting of the dots. In my opinion it ended with far too many open subplots and didn''t particularly care for the lack of emotions indicative of a male author. 4.48

What can I say that I haven''t said already or that others haven''t said? Kwan is one of the greatest street lit authors on the market past and present. I have been a supporter for a long time and with the quality stories this author is putting out, I will continue to be a supporter. I have never read an authors work that makes you want to go back and reread their earlier work. While reading "Eviction Notice" I was saying, "damn I need to go revisit some old friends". I hope others can pick up on Kwan zest and flair for being able to have a standalone book (although this is book five in series) AND keep you up to date on earlier characters. I love how he tied some of his earlier works together while allowing the reader to keep up.

The introduction of some new characters: Porsha, Frankie and Sahara keep the story moving right along. They are the main characters and roommates who receive eviction notice. They will have you laughing, yelling, and almost crying at/with the antics and situations they get themselves in.

The answers are in about Animal. Picks up right where Section 8 left off and you won''t be disappointed. If you are a fan of this series, this book is worth it just to find out those details. Introduction of King James was a great plot although at times I wanted to shoot him myself. Looking forward to seeing how things progress or not with him. Shai Clark is back a crowd favorite. Music Mogul Don B is back and he still up to his old trick. We do get to see the business side of him and see that it''s not just dumb luck he on top. If you''re a true die hard supporter, you will enjoy catching up on some of his earlier work. I''m not going to spoil it for you just start flipping pages and you will see who.

If by some chance, you have slept on this author I suggest that you start from the beginning (Gangsta) and work your way up and see what all the hype is about. I guarantee you will be like the rest of and waiting with baited breath for the next release. Those die hard supporters know K''wan releases are around the Sept/ Oct time of year. So get busy because you have some catching up to do

K''wan is back taking readers on another hood tour and the first stop is Harlem''s Douglass Projects. Fans of K''wan''s novels are well aware of the movers and shakers in the Douglass houses and happily many of them are back for cameo appearances. It takes a skilled writer to be able to update readers on past characters while still engaging them with a new tale. But K''wan manages to catch readers up on characters he introduced not just in the Hood Rat series but from as far back as Road Dawgs, Street Dreams & Hoodlum while still establishing the new characters of Eviction Notice; Porsha, Sahara, Frankie and King James.

Porsha, Sahara and Frankie are roommates sub-leasing an apartment from Debbie who did the girls dirty by squandering away their rent money while fully living up to her trifling reputation. Leaving the girls with just a little over 72 hours to come up with the money or be tossed out onto the streets. King James has been home from prison a little over two years while he''s already making moves he has bigger plans on solidifying his hold on the Harlem streets. But when his work turns up on one of Shai Clark''s corners a war ensues that will ultimately result in an Animal being released!

Those are the only hints I''m giving as to which old characters resurface or are at least given updates through cleverly placed mentions. But what I will say is that at several places throughout the book I found my mouth hanging wide open. With promises of the next installment being the bloodiest ever some of the well appointed re-acquaintances just might prove to be short-lived. Because as with all Killa K''wan novels anyone can get it from protagonist to antagonist even innocent bystanders can catch a bad one. Proof as to why K''wan is more than 10 books strong in the urban lit field. He''s blessed with an ability to effectively spin tales that are fiction but yet still somehow read like hard facts.

This was such a good story and I am so happy that ANIMAL IS BACK!!!! Kwan should never kill this character. You love the quality and the menance in him. I see Don B is still up to his same ole tricks just with a new one. Frankie always finds herself in some bullcrap. Boots is still being the slut of harlem. My hurt broke when my Gucci got shot. I hope that Kwan lets Gucci and Animal connect that love story is too good, too pure and just seems so right. Tionna has matured and I was happy to see she is still trying to hold Gucci down. Kwan writes his characters so colorfully and vividly that you laugh out loud when Gucci''s mom or aunt is talking. Those older ladies crack me up each and everytime. I really hope that Kwan cranks out another hit quickly because this was a winner. I felt sorry for the three main characters but it was crazy how they all lived in the same household but never kept it 100% with each other. I got this book on my Kindle 9/27 and finished at 1:30am on 9/28. Kwan never let''s me down and he always gives you a fantastic story. Once again he did a stellar job with this one. K''wan is a DON in this urban book world and a beast in the Literary world. Besides a few others he is by far one of my favorites!!!

First let me say, K''wan is one of the best authors in the game, but not just in street fiction, I mean in the writing game, period. There were times when I was reading the Puerto Rico scenes, that it made me feel like I was reading a different book all together. Kind of reminded me of Eric Jerome Dickey''s Gideon series(which was awesome) in which Gideon is in all these other parts of the country. But of course, K''wan being the ever so talented writer that he is, always manages to bring things back together and tie up loose ends, which always make for a fantastic story. I love the Hood Rat Series, no question, but I really loved the Puerto Rico Scenes.

When I finished reading Eviction Notice, it was close to midnight and I had to get up and go to work in the morning. I was so wired up from this book that I couldn''t go to sleep. I kept replaying scenes in my head. Never the less, I finally went to sleep with a big smile on my face feeling extremely satisfied. Eviction Notice was great!
