Ko Tao is a tiny (21 km²) island in the Golf of Thailand. Ko Tao means turtle island because there used to be many turtles in the surrounding waters, however most of them have since moved to other areas. Its calm shallow beaches and bays, as well as its lush green valleys make it perfect for vacationing families. Ko Tao's secluded coves and white sandy beaches also make it an ideal romantic getaway. The crystal clear and warm water also makes for excellent diving, making the island a popular spot for both experienced and beginning divers.
