Bangkok’s most famous park is Lumpini Park, and deservedly so! This 140 acre park offers a rare area of green space, peace and quiet, away from the congested and noisy streets of Bangkok, and is a hugely popular place to come and chill out for both residents and visitors.
Created in the 1920’s, Lumpini Park was donated by the generous King Rama VI from land that was royal property for the people of Bangkok to enjoy. In honor of the king a statue was carved and erected at the southwestern entrance to the park in 1942, and can still be seen here today.
The park is an oasis in the middle of Bangkok’s business district and is a great place to come and get away from it all. Once inside, it’s difficult to imagine all the thousands of people going about their business on the streets just outside! As well as being a great place for a walk or to sit down and people watch, visitors to Lumpini Park can enjoy the park’s artificial lake where you can rent boats and float around.
During the winter you can also enjoy a variety of performances within Lumpini Park. There’s the annual Concert in the Park, the highlight of which is classical music performed by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. This event is highly recommended if you’re visiting Bangkok during the winter.
If you’re in Bangkok and need a jogging or cycling fix, Lumpini Park is the place to come. There’s a cycling and jogging track around the park which covers about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles). And if you’re visiting Bangkok with children, come to Lumpini Park and let them spend some time in the playground!
Lumpini Park is situated on the north side of Rama IV Road. You can get here via the MRT Silom station and access the southwestern entrance to the park, or use the MRT Lumpini station at the southeastern corner.
Sala Daeng is the area southwest of Lumpini Park by the main entrance. This is one of the main tourist shopping and nightlife areas of Bangkok and is serviced by both MRT subway and BTS Skytrain.

Lang Suan
Lang Suan is a tree lined one way avenue directly north of Lumpini Park with Chit Lom BTS station at one end and the park on the other. There are some nice restaurants and bars on this street and although it's close to everything and is home to some great hotels, it is still kind of "undiscovered" by most tourists.
